The story
Firozabad has blown glass by furnace-light for over two centuries — the whole city glows orange at night from the bhaTTis.
At the lamp I melt coloured glass rods and wind them into beads and small animals while the glass is still liquid. It is a dance with something that will burn you if you hesitate.
I am one of few women at the lamp here. I want my daughter to see that this fire belongs to us too.
